Barb came over to watch the kids about 1:30 on Thursday. Stephanie showed up at 2:00 and we headed out the door. Zac needed to make one more quick stop and buy his Detroit hat to finish the "look" of Magnum PI. Zac and I are not sports watching people. We totally thought the "D" on the Detroit hat stood for Dodgers. So we went to the sports store and I showed him where the "Dodger" hat was. Zac grabbed it and was excited. Stephanie says, "I'm confused. The Dodger hat is still up there. That is the hat for Detroit." I'm glad Stephanie was with us...we would have looked like fools telling everyone that we bought a Dodger hat.
After our shopping trip we stopped in S. Provo to pick up Jason. I have never met Jason. He started the Eagle Mountain runners club and I made a plea on their page for another runner for this race. He agreed to do it. I'm so glad that he ran it with us. He fit in really well...and wasn't creepy. I was nervous that none of us had ever met him before this. He was really nice. He even let us borrow his roof bag for our van to put stuff in. That was HUGE help!
We got into Torrey, Utah around 6:00pm. We checked into our hotel rooms unpacked a little and headed to the patio for our packet pick-up. They had a spaghetti dinner at the patio that we were excited about eating. It was gross. Barely any spaghetti for $7.50/plate. It wasn't all you could eat either. It just made us hungrier.
After dinner, Jordyn was able to make it down from Idaho. I have the best cousins! I'm so glad Jordyn and Stephanie were willing to sacrfice their weekends and come run with us! After the dinner Amy and I went to the Captains meeting. It was pretty much pointless - not much new information. Zac, Devin and I headed to the gas station and filled up the 5 gallon cooler with ice and filled up our super sprayer.
Zac and I both drank our nasty carb drink before bed. Mistake. We had to use the bathroom several times that night. We tossed and turned all night. Zac and I kept on getting up. I don't think I got a consistent 1 hour of sleep. Morning came too soon.
